Women in Nahjul Balgha
In the chapter entitled The Last Will and Testament Mola (as) are reported as saying:
There are four things that make the heart die: wrong
action followed by wrong action, playing around with
foolish people, spending a lot of time with women, and
sitting with the dead. Then they asked Imam Ali: 'And who
are the dead, O Commander of the believers?' He replied:
'Every slave who follows his desires.'
There are also sermons which state that a woman is inferior in faith and intellect.
I have two questions regarding this:
Firstly is this in accordance with Quran and other hadeeth?
Secodnly What is the context and meaning of the above part of the sermon if it is reliable and authentic?

Re: Women in Nahjul Balgha
Sorry brother are you talking about the complete sermon? or the part about woman?
Re: Women in Nahjul Balgha
Never the less, If it's regarding the woman the only explanation of the hadith, sometimes it could mean "non-mahram women" which I'm guessing it could be the case with this hadith however I am not sure. I guessed so because spending time doing foolish , with the slaves who follow their desires etc cannot be linked to spending time with mahram women, mothers, wives, daughters, never heard any hadith saying it's not good to spend time with your mother or daughter or wife that is why again I'm assuming this hadith is talking about spending time with non mahram women can harden your heart.

"I'm assuming this hadith is talking about spending time with non mahram women can harden your heart"
wel, have you seen a hadith where maula (saw) is telling you to spend time with non mahram women? not ALOT of time but some time with them?
maybe maula (saw) is simply saying:
"spending ALOT of time with women" kils the heart.
maula (saw) knows best. our love for our mothers, daughters sisters isn't higher then maulas (saw) words.
