Re: Saying YAM!
assalamoallaikom
ba tohfa ya ali madad
please keep in mind that the word ASSALAM or the word which is mentioned in quran by the word SALAMUN
in the first word, we have AL before SALAM
and in the second, we have UN after salam
and these two are the signs of ISM
that is to say if they are present in any word, it means that they are the name of someone
and mola asws said
NAHNO ISMULLAH
now
i must say that aimmah always used ASSALAMOALLAIKOM
so we should also use this word, after all they ordered us to use it
but
we should know the reality of this
and the reality of assalamoallaikom is
YA ALI MADAD

Re: Saying YAM!
Ya Ali Madad
Quran - wa iza jaakal lazeena yumenoona ba ayatena fa qul salamun aleikum
- jab tumhare paas wo log aaen jo hamare ayaat per imaan rakhte hain tum unse kaho salamun alaykom
- when those people come to you who have imaan on my ayaat, then u say to them salamun alaykom
- The main criterion for saying salamun alaykum is that the person should have imaan on Allah's Ayaat otherwise it is against shariah to say it.
- In the ayat of meraj - Allah says - that O Muhammed [sawa] I want to show u some of my ayaats. - what did He [azwj] show and thru whom?
- Imam Ali [asws] said - ana ayatul akber - I am the greatest ayat
- Nenhu ayatullah - We asws are the ayaats of Allah
- So now it is clear what the criteria for saying salamun alaykom is, otherwise just say salam [which is what 6th Imam [asws] says to say to any person who does not believe in walayat, or if they say salamun alaykom to you then you should reply with wa alayka (ie: NOT wa alayka salaam]
Just imagine that you are saying "may Allah bestow his blessings on you" - (which is the translation of salam alaykom) to a non-shia, knowing full well that he has nothing but hatred towards Ahl ul Bayt [asws] even today, and does not follow them as ordained by Allah.
also;
The Apostle of Allah (sawa) said:
Zayyinu majalisekum be zikre Ali ibn abi talib (asws) zikre aliyyun zikrona wa zikrona zikrallah.
Give glory to your meetings by discussing virtues of Ali (asws) for discussing Him is discussing Me (sawa) and discussing Me is discussing Allah (azwj)
Among us zikre Ali is ibadah and among the angels it is their tasbeeh which Allah considers as his hamd
Al-baqara : 30 - And when your Lord said to the angels, I am going to place in the earth a khalif, they said: What! wilt Thou place in it such as shall make mischief in it and shed blood, and we celebrate Thy praise and extol Thy holiness (wanahnu nusabbihu bihamdika)? He said: Surely I know what you do not know.
Imam Ali (asws) said about the above verse:
Ayyohannaas innal malaikata lata tazakara fadli wa zaalika tasbeehoha indallah
Oh people! Angels discuss my attributes and that is their tasbeeh before Allah (azwj)
Therefore, what is better? to do an ibadah when greeting or otherwise, always remember saying salam alaykum when greeting someone is only wajib if they say it to you first (and you have full knowledge that they are a true believer) then (and only then) it is wajib on you to return the greeting, but it is not a wajibat to say it to begin with, it is only something that gives a reward, so which is the better reward? saying salaam or performing an ibadat of Allah? choice is yours.

Re: Saying YAM!
Great post! But is not "Salam" one of Mola's (as) names? Just on a Quick Note, can you show me one hadith where the Aima (as) used to great people by sayying "Ya Ali (as) Madad"? And why is this practice only from both from India/Pakistan? I remember going back 10 years ago people where alienated to sayying "Yam" when meeting others, this trend only existed amongst Malangs. Why is this custom now found any where else and If so can you show me proof? not to mention where have you taken this practice from?

cause malangs elected people like me to be honorary malang!!! hahahahaha
no but seriously.... its an excellent saying, and no i cant show it to you as a sunnah but just because its a sunnah does not make it haram, or a thing not allowed.....
and, I showed you any and ALL proofs you need, from the quran as well as hadith
and yes one of Moulas names is salaam

Re: Saying YAM!
well at least you admit that however I do have a hadith that says that you can say "Ya Ali(as) Madad" but I am not going to share it with you
Re: Saying YAM!
its not me you should be worrying about sharing it with (or keeping it from) it is your duty to share your knowledge with those less knowledgable..... if you have a hadith you should share it with the original inqurer of the thread.... it is him we are teaching yes?

Re: Saying YAM!
Well this hadith can be used to even support Molas (as) name in both azan and Tasahud as well. It will cover you pretty much cover everything you can think off.
Re: Saying YAM!
syed psot the hadith up here....and as far as knowledge is concerned...everyone here is learnin sumink they never knew...and even if dat is the original inquirer of the thread!!!
Re: Saying YAM!
The Hadith is as follows:- "Whoever has received a report from the Prophet (saw) about the merits of performing a act and he acts according to that report, he will be rewarded for it even if the Prophet (saw) did not state it."
Muhammad b. al hassan al Hurr al-Amili Wasil al Shia 4th ed. Volume 20, I have other referances for this hadith also.
