is azan a must with ever namaz?

hi
is namaz not valid without azaan? as in can i read salah without azan?
also, if i was alone and about to read salat, do i still have to read the azan and aqama?
im partially asking this as i have seen many shias reading zahor and asar namaz wigth only one azaan at the begining

i was reading ilal-us-sharai
and if i am remembering correctly, that said that adhan is must for fajr and maghrib; and mustahab for others
since i am busy with exams again
yeah, stupid exams always come after six months
and i am really sick of it
but that is part of life
