companions are the best?

sunnis will always tell us that sahaba are the greatest of all
time; and
we by default
can never match them; and they say that it is because they were
born in time of prophet asws etc etc
but

we find in mustadarak

6992 –
حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب ثنا محمد بن عوف بن سفيان الطائي بحمص ثنا عبد
القدوس بن الحجاج ثنا الأوزاعي ثنا أسيد بن عبد الرحمن حدثني صالح بن محمد عن أبي
جمعة قال : تغدينا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم و معنا أبو عبيدة بن الجراح
قال : فقلنا يا رسول الله أحد خير منا أسلمنا معك و جاهدنا معك ؟ قال : نعم قوم
يكونون بعدكم يؤمنون بي ولم يروني
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد و لم يخرجاه

abu ubaida asked holy prophet asws
“o prophet! is there one better than us though we accepted islam with you and
fought by your side?”
prophet asws said “yes, they are the
ones who will come later and will embrace islam, though they will not have seen
me
hakim: sahih as per standards of
sheikhain, though they did not write it
