just wanted to know, i hear nohay as you all hear.
what i want to know is, are muslims allowed to chant bibi's (saw) name, we hear mulsims chanting it in public? on tv.
just makes me think, would people, especially the men chant bibi's (saw) name when maula (saw) was there physically? even in rasool paaks (saw) time?
because maula (saw) is still here and can see us. So all applies to us just as it did to the ones at the time?

where is the objection on chanting the name? I really don't understand the issue considering the fact we also mention Bibi's (sa) name on a daily basis.

true, i heard a few shias in a talk once talking of this, mentioning how sacret the name is and how people should not chant it in public.

Did they have a Quran and Hadith to this? or was this just the opinion of the person?

Brother AliAliAli, I understand where you are coming from, it is a matter of respect, but just imagine we stopped chanting the name of Bibi Pak (s.a).... The world would not get to know what had happened to Her (s.a) and Her Holy Family (a.s).
This is the Zikr (remembering) we are always supposed to do. This is the Zikr which is never supposed to end. It will be till Qayamat and beyond...

There is this Hadees where Maula Jafer Sadiq (a.s) asks His companion (r.a) to recite a few verses upon the tragedy of Kerbala. I do not have it off hand but most of you must have heard/read that Hadees. I am just wondering about the content of those verses. Does anyone know whether the companion (r.a) mentioned the sufferings of Pak Shahzadiyan Harram-e-Maula Hussain (s.a) as well?

Imam Redha (A.S.) said (to De'bil, a poet sincerely devoted to the Ahlul Bayt):

is it ok to chant Bibi's (saw) name? Image020

I desire that you recite for me poetry, for surely, these days (of the month of Muharram) are the days of grief and sorrow, which have passed over us, Ahlul Bayt.

I do not understand the issue with nohay.
Lets be straight up alialiali, your objection is not at reciting the name of Paak Syeda(sa) but at it being recited in nohay.

The names of the Paak pure ladies of the household of the prophet (as) should not be used out of respect.

Other than that there is no prohibtion.

These names are the tasbeehs of the malaik on the 7 heavens.

These are the names that are the foundations of creation and faith.

It would be an offense beyond measure to take these names in a market place to highlight the name for no reason or for fun. But to teach and educate the masses about the tragedies they suffered and the sacrifices they made for islam, and that these are the true fountheads of divine leadership and guidence can be nothing other than prayer!

I think the problem here is the simplistic and disingenious use of the term 'chant'. a chant is a repetitive usage of one or a few words ad infinitum.

There is no 'chant' that you can hear in nohay.

The correct expression is eulogies and laments.
The name if used, is used in context and highlights the trials and tribulations of the personality being named and their associated family members (as).

If you have a problem with that, why do you not go and remove all references of the Holy and venerable ladies (as) names from all the hadeeth books, as those are also accesible to all and sundry!
Happy deleting.

o ok, thanks again for the replies, i believe it was just a opinion, dont think it was refered to the quran and hadith, the same shias also mentioned that doing matham/zanjeer is soMthing that should be done within ones own home rather then outside in public, or maybe it was prefered indoors.
anyways

you have answered my question, so there are hadiths where the companions mention bibi(saw) by her (saw) name and also the poetry of karbala read by a companion (aS) of the imam (saw) mentions her (saw) name too.

many thanks

Brother be careful of such opinions from such so called shias.

The whole point to azadari [matham and zanjeer] is to propagate the tribulations and sorrows that the Aimma (as) suffered and the reason why they allowed such oppression and tyranny to be inflicted upon them.

If you do zanjeer, majlis, matam indoors, then where how is the awareness of this going to achieve those who are not indoors with you? How will you bring t the peoples attention that such calamities befell the progeny of the Prophet (saww).
How will you cause people to question why you are doing this so that you can then explain to them the expenditure of the Household of the Prophet (saww) in saving and protecting Islam?

Such people should not call themselves shia and are hurting themselves.

I am glad you raised the opinion though as it allowed us an opportunity to refute such a badly formed opinion that contradicts the philosophy and purpose of azadari.
